I met the Dang Family on a summer evening close at one of my new favorite locations near Golden, Colorado. The Dang Family saw my session with the Tucker Family and specifically requested this location. They really loved the open fields with the mountain backdrop and want this type of scenery for their family portraits.
The Dang boys were pretty shy at first and only wanted to be held by their parents. Although I wish they wanted to be BFFs from the beginning, I understood that the boys needed time to warm up. They were in a new environment and I was a stranger. So I read the room…Backed off… let them be. Luckily, their parents were chill and went with the flow. Our patience with the boys were reward and the boys started opening up. By the end of the session, they were really engaged and having lots of fun. We were able to get such a beautiful gallery of their time together!
One thing I’ve learned from having kids of my own and working with a lot of young families is… if the kids aren’t having fun… Then no one is going to have fun. This is why my portrait sessions are play based and child-led. I try my best to keep sessions fun and engaging by incorporating lots of games and movement. I will never force your child to do a particular prompt or pose. If they aren’t having it, I will gladly move on. I have a lot of patience and tricks up my sleeves. Contact me today, if you’re ready for a fun filled portrait session with your family.
